Read our story on running free and fair elections.

The 2024 election is around the corner and local elections officials are fighting threats from all sides. According to the Brennan Center, about 1 in 5 local elections workers said they were likely to leave their jobs before the 2024 presidential election.

In order to protect local elections officials, guarantee the rights of voters, and preserve our democracy, PRP’s Election Protection Hub is live and ready to help hundreds of 2024 elections officials:

What’s at stake for free and fair elections?

States have enacted and are enforcing laws that directly impact elections officials' ability to do their jobs and are endangering voting access — especially for Black and brown low-income voters

Election deniers are trying to eliminate electronic voting and spreading misinformation about the integrity and security of locally-administered elections, which is especially harmful to voters with disabilities and accessibility needs

The spread of disinformation and reactionary efforts to stop popular referendums to protect abortion rights and protect local democracy further exacerbates challenges and attacks on local elections officials. This impacts voters’ ability to discern the impact of their vote

Our Target States

We support election officials in multiple states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin where:

  • Black and brown communities have been targeted for voter suppression

  • Local elections officials have an interest in and/or a track record of developing innovative, pro-voter policies (e.g., drop-box voting, expanded early voting, etc.)

  • State officials and third-party groups have mounted legal and political challenges against local elections officials
