Laurin has spent much of her professional life working with non-profits, major global philanthropies, and mission-driven organizations to deliver impact, build reputations, and leverage storytelling for change.

Prior to joining Public Rights Project, Laurin served as communications director for Confluence Philanthropy, which convened over 260 mission-aligned investors, including foundations and family offices, representing $77.5 billion in assets under management. In a prior role, she was a communications officer at the Open Society Foundations, where she developed communications strategies to advance the Open Society’s priorities in human rights and global equity, and to draw attention to cases of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Laurin is a former elected official and served as the youngest female Member of Parliament in Canadian history in 2011. She held multiple Shadow Cabinet roles over a four-year term. She initiated, planned, and executed campaigns on consumer rights, poverty, labour rights, and health, and successfully proposed and advocated for legislative changes that impacted the lives of up to 435,000 individuals.

As a native Montrealer now living in New York City, she speaks both English and French. She holds a master’s degree in human rights from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
