Elaine Poon
A long-time legal aid attorney, Elaine is a senior attorney in the Civil Rights Hub.
Elaine began her career at a small law firm representing local governments across Georgia, litigating cases in state and federal court. Soon after, she joined the Atlanta Legal Aid Society where she represented individuals against evictions, in Medicaid appeals, and a myriad of other legal issues. When she moved to Charlottesville, VA, she began as a managing attorney at the Legal Aid Justice Center (LAJC) and supported groups like the Public Housing Association of Residents in their efforts to win resident-led redevelopment and better affordable housing policies in Charlottesville. She later became LAJC’s first Deputy Director of Advocacy and she oversaw advocacy across a broad range of issues.
She is based in Charlottesville, VA with her partner and their sweet elderly pup.
