Courtni Burleson

Courtni Burleson is PRP’s Director of Institutional Giving with over 10 years of fundraising experience. Before joining PRP, she led the grants programs at Americans United for Separation of Church and State and the American Constitution Society.

Previously, Courtni worked at the D.C. Sentencing Commission and Vera Institute of Justice to collaborate with local government agencies on criminal justice policy efforts. Courtni began her career as an attorney and has worked in public defender offices in New York, California, and Washington, D.C. Courtni received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law where she was the editor-in-chief of the African American Law & Policy Report and former co-chair, board member, and fellowship coordinator for the Berkeley Law Foundation. She holds a B.A. and M.S. in justice, law & society from American University.

Courtni has also worked as a freelance editor, collaborating on both fiction and non-fiction projects. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, she is based in Washington, DC, where she co-hosts a trivia night in her neighborhood and celebrates her inner nerd.
