Elaine Poon
Elaine is a Senior Staff Attorney in the Civil Rights Hub, where she provides direct litigation support, technical assistance, and rapid-response advice to local governments on civil rights matters.
Prior to joining PRP, she worked at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, Virginia first as a managing attorney, then later as its first Deputy Director of Advocacy. As Director of Advocacy, she oversaw all advocacy functions in the organization, including organizing, litigation, policy and individual representation. Elaine has also taught a law clinic at the University of Virginia that focused on consumer rights during her time at Legal Aid Justice Center.
Elaine also previously worked at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, where she represented individuals against evictions and foreclosure, as well as a myriad of other legal issues with a focus on elder law. She also worked at a small law firm representing local governments across Georgia, litigating cases in state and federal court.
Elaine is a graduate of Emory University School of Law and holds a B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University.
