The 2024 election is around the corner and local elections officials are fighting threats from all sides. According to the Brennan Center, about 1 in 5 local elections workers said they were likely to leave their jobs before the 2024 presidential election.
In order to protect local elections officials, guarantee the rights of voters, and preserve our democracy, PRP’s Elections Officials Hub is live and ready to help hundreds of 2024 elections officials:
Direct legal representation. Provide ongoing litigation support and answer legal questions in real time
Amicus coalition representation. Build a space for local elections officials to connect, share best practices to defend voting rights, and support each other through the work
Legal training and technical assistance. Develop offensive and defensive solutions to protect local elections officials and constituents from state overreach and bogus litigation
What’s at stake for free and fair elections?
States have enacted and are enforcing laws that directly impact elections officials' ability to do their jobs and are endangering voting access — especially for Black and brown low-income voters
Election deniers are trying to eliminate electronic voting and spreading misinformation about the integrity and security of locally-administered elections, which is especially harmful to voters with disabilities and accessibility needs
The spread of disinformation and reactionary efforts to stop popular referendums to protect abortion rights and protect local democracy further exacerbates challenges and attacks on local elections officials. This impacts voters’ ability to discern the impact of their vote
