On Day 1 of Public Rights Project’s first organization-wide retreat, staff, fellows & partners 50 miles west of Montgomery, Alabama for an immersive afternoon, learning about the historic role Selma played in the long road towards dismantling barriers to voting.

As part of its first organization-wide retreat, PRP staff, fellows and partners sat down with Judge Myron Thompson of the Middle District of Alabama to discuss the role of the courts and government in the struggle towards racial equity and social justice.

In February, our Founder & President, Jill Habig, returned to her alma matter, Yale Law School, for a conversation on how government lawyers can build on the power of their offices to uphold the rule of law and defend their communities from the threats of the current federal administration.

In December, our team gathered for a three-day retreat in The Presidio to reflect on the many milestones we’ve reached this year: from growing our staff to launching our inaugural cohort of fellows, from our work being featured in journals and publications across the nation to embarking on a historic partnership with the the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
